Monday, August 25: Candidate filing begins for City/School Election on November 4, 2025. Candidates will file nomination papers with their city clerk or school secretary.
Tuesday, August 26: First day to submit absentee ballot requests for the regular City/School Election.
Thursday, September 18: 5:00 pm deadline for candidates to file nomination papers with their city clerk or school secretary.
Monday, October 6: Satellite voting petition deadline for City/School Election. Auditor's Office open until 5:00 pm.
Tuesday, October 7, at 9:00 am: Testing of voting equipment
Wednesday, October 15: Absentee voting begins in the Poweshiek County Auditor's Office
Wednesday, October 15: First day Auditor can mail ballots which were requested by a voter by submitting the completed Absentee Ballot Request Form.

Monday, October 20: Deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed. Must receive the completed Absentee Ballot Request Form in the Auditor's Office by 5:00 pm this day to receive a ballot by mail. Auditor Office open until 5:00 pm.
Monday, October 20: City/School Election voter pre-registration deadline & worry-free postmark date for voter registration forms. Voter registrations completed after this date will require Election Day Registration proof of residency & proof of identity.
Monday, October 20: After 5:00 pm, voters admitted to nursing homes may call the Auditor's Office (641-623-5443) to request delivery of an absentee ballot for the City/School Election.
Friday, October 31: Last day to submit challenges to absentee voters for City/School Election. Auditor office open until 5:00 pm.
Tuesday, November 4: Election Day - Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. - You MUST got to your polling location to vote on Election Day. Not sure where you vote, you can follow the link to find your polling location:

All absentee ballots (except UOCAVA & Safe at Home) must be received in the Auditor's Office by 8:00 pm on Election Day, November 4.
Deadline for telephone request for delivery of absentee ballot is 4:00 pm on Election Day, November 4 for voters admitted to hospitals and nursing homes
Wednesday, November 12, 12:00 pm (Noon): Deadline for UOCAVA & Safe at Home received by 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on this date is considered to be on time.
Wednesday, November 12, 1:00 pm: First-tier canvass of votes for City/School Election.
Tuesday, November 18: Second-tier canvass of votes for City/School Election.
